Equipped with rich analog functions, high-performance DSP, high-resolution PWM, and so on, making it possible to build high-efficiency high-performance power control applications using their low-power and strong system support functions.

Four Features of MD660x Series
Feature 1: Rich analog functions
A high-speed 10-bit A/D converter, a high-precision 12-bit A/D converter, a D/A converter, a high-speed comparator, and a general-purpose operating amplifier and so on are incorporated.
These analog function modules or these modules and external pins can also be wired mutually using a programmable internal wiring network.
Feature 2: High-performance operation functions with three core processors; CPU and TinyDSPs
MD660x Series have two units of 16-bit TinyDSP in addition to the main CPU.
System processing by the CPU and arithmetic processing by TinyDSP can be performed in parallel respectively.
TinyDSP supports division in addition to MUL (multiplication) and MAC (multiply & accumulation).
Feature 3: High-resolution PWM function
For the PWM output waveform, duty ratio and cycle can be set up in a resolution of 1ns.
This function can add dead time automatically and perform high-speed response such as duty cut or cycle cut of the PWM waveform in synchronization with external events such as a comparator.
Feature 4: Automatic data transfer function among peripheral registers (DSAC)
Data can be transferred automatically among the registers of the built-in peripheral modules.
For example, by transferring data automatically among the A/D converter, TinyDSP units, and PWM unit, feedback control can be executed without the CPU.
During such feedback control, the CPU focuses on system processing such as abnormality detection or communications processing.

Development Environment of MD660x Series
Integrated Development Environment “MD-Studio”
An integrated development environment for CPU program development, MD-Studio, is provided for free.
This environment supports various functions such as an editor, C-compiler, or debugger.
- Editing of source programs and management of projects
- Building of C-programs and assembly programs (Compiler/Assembler/Linker)
- Erasing, writing, and protection of the flash memory
- Debugging functions (execution): Run/STOP/STEP execution, break point specifying on the C-source code.
- Debugging functions (reference): Disassembling, display and change of the memories/registers, display values of variables in a C-source code.
- TinyDSP assembler simulator function
Compact Debug Interfaces “OCD I/F Board”
An OCD I/F board, which connects between a PC and the target board at the time of program development, is provided.
No expensive ICE or JTAG debuggers are required.
Programming the flash memory and debugging can be performed by connecting a PC with USB and the target board basically with 3 wires only.
The circuit schematics for the OCD I/F board is also available.
Ultra-compact Evaluation board “CHEWING GUM”
An ultra-compact evaluation board of MD6602 as a bare MCU device, CHEWING GUM, is provided.
- 53 mm×18 mm small size
- The MCU terminal signals are connected to the 2.54 mm pitch terminals. (Can be mounted on a breadboard, and so on.)
- Two-color LED and a reset button are mounted.
- Bus power operation by connecting to a PC via USB cable.
- Built-in debug interface circuit.
- In the Integrated Development Environment “MD-Studio”, the flash memory can be programmed and application program can be debugged.
- Circuit schematics and sample programs are included.
